On this site, we set tanks, pumps, and air/nitrogen stations, and we take care of all our own measurements, pipe fabrication, and installation. Our piping work includes stainless steel, threaded carbon, PVC, and CPVC. We also rebuild and restore existing equipment when needed — including full teardown, cleaning, repainting, and reassembly of older pumps to extend their service life.
Geofortis, Utah
Geofortis Pozzolan Plant – Tooele County, UT Lee Mechanical proudly led the construction of the first Cemengal Plug & Grind XTREME modular grinding mill in North America. Located in Tooele County, Utah, this facility will produce over 300,000 tons of pozzolan annually—supporting cleaner, more sustainable concrete production. Despite international shipping delays and last-minute design changes, our team delivered the project on an aggressive schedule with zero safety incidents. This milestone project reflects our ability to lead complex installations and drive innovation in the cement and materials industry.
Project Spotlight: Geofortis Pozzolan Plant – First Cemengal Mill in North America
Pioneering Modular Grinding Technology in the U.S.
Lee Mechanical Contractors proudly led the construction of the first-ever Cemengal “Plug & Grind XTREME” modular mill system installation in North America for Geofortis Utah. Located on a 7-acre site in Tooele County, Utah, this groundbreaking facility is designed to produce over 300,000 tons of pozzolan annually — a key supplementary cementitious material for the concrete industry.
As a Cemengal-certified U.S. installer, Lee Mechanical was uniquely qualified to manage the complex erection of the modular mill, which was manufactured in Spain and shipped in segments to the U.S. The team overcame numerous logistical challenges, including international shipping delays due to COVID-19, last-minute design adjustments, and site-specific issues.
Scope of Work Highlights:
· Erection and installation of Cemengal Plug & Grind modular mill system
· Structural, mechanical, and electrical installation of the drying system, conveyors, dust collection, and storage components
· Integration of mill components including feed systems, baghouse, separators, bucket elevator, and control piping
· Installation of supporting utilities: compressed air, natural gas, and water systems
Project Milestones:
· First Cemengal modular grinding system installed in the U.S.
· Overcame COVID-related shipment delays and design complications
· Completed in 10 months with zero recordable safety incidents
Despite tight timelines and a compressed schedule due to delayed equipment arrival, Lee Mechanical’s team executed the project with precision and professionalism. By rapidly adapting erection procedures in coordination with Cemengal, the installation was completed more efficiently than any previous Plug & Grind system installation worldwide.
This project showcases our commitment to innovation, safety, and client satisfaction — and marks a significant step forward in the modernization of cement processing infrastructure in North America.
Heidelberg Materials – Mitchell, IN
